Welcome to First Congregational Church of Melrose, United Church of Christ! These are exciting days for our church as we grow in the spirit and love of Christ. We have much to celebrate at First Congregational Church. We are an Open and Affirming Congregation with a growing membership. Our youth are engaged and eager to contribute to the church missions. We have new and exciting ministries that involve both new and lifelong members of the church family. We have a wealth of history that reflects our members’ desire to make a difference!

First Congregational Church is a member of the Metropolitan Boston Association in the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ. The United Church of Christ is the largest Protestant denomination in Massachusetts. The UCC was formed in 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio, when the Evangelical and Reformed Church (who had merged 23 years prior), and the Congregational Christian Churches (who had merged 26 years prior) joined together to form the United Church of Christ. This new church embodied the essence of both parents, a complement of freedom with order, of the English and European Reformations with the American Awakenings, of separatism with 20th-century ecumenism, of presbyterian with congregational polities, of neoorthodox with liberal theologies. On that day, two million members joined hands. The United Church of Christ continues to balance religious tradition with new ideas for religion that is relevant.  God is still speaking,
